Can you tell me a little bit about your background and general work experience?

Twenty years ago, I left my job in healthcare to be a digital nomad (that was before they were called digital nomads). I made a living developing websites and selling hosting. I met, and then married to a non-American that wanted to be a doctor in Africa and ended up moving to Ghana and built a small hospital in the bush. During that season I worked remotely from the UK, USA and Ghana. Now, we have a fully remote company, based in the USA but I am currently working from Rio de Janeiro.

What started your journey into no-code?

After many years of WordPress work, when we began developing our online presence for our current venture, we went deeper into the no code space. Last year we launched Insured Nomads, a specialised international insurance company that services people who live and work around the world as nomads and expats. We’ve been so focused on the behind the scenes process, that we didn’t realise that, by using no-code tools it won’t take the half a million-dollar budget we had expected to spend to build out our broker portal and dashboard. It’s actually something that can be built for a very low price with no-code. Within this, we came across a competition called “No-code Rumble” and that really kick started our journey with no-code.

What have you found most surprising about the no-code community so far?

It inclusive, helpful and collaborative. I’ve been blown away by the willingness of everyone to help each other in the no code community.

What tools or platforms are you thinking of/ have been using for your no-code project? Airtable, Webflow, Stacker, Revetize, Glide for our app and we are currently learning about all the other platform tools that are really quite amazing.

What impact has No-code made on your life, directly or indirectly?

I feel like I’ve finally arrived into a community that’s not just a ‘do it yourself blindfolded’ – but a ‘do it with the tribe’ mentality – I always felt like I was in the do it blindfolded community, but the Makerpad community is not like that at all.
