Virtual career fairs without a line of code

Hello - I'm Andy and I've worked in education my whole career. I'm currently running operations for a non-profit tech skill bootcamp but  I'm always launching new education-related side projects.

My most recent one is called Careero - we run virtual career fairs and it was made without writing a single line of code.

Why did I start it?
Y Combinator recently published a report about their top 100 companies in 2019. Of the companies on that list, 51% were B2B SaaS products, 3% of the companies were education, and 1% were focused on environmental sustainability. After reading the report, I shared it with a few friends and jokingly said: “The world might be burning down, but thank god medium and large businesses will still be operating efficiently.”

That report surfaced something that I’ve been thinking about for the past few months: the world has a bunch of upcoming challenges that need to be solved, all of which are difficult, but solvable if we have enough people devoted to working on them. However, if we have so many of our smartest people working on software that gets more clicks, views, engagement, etc etc — I’m not confident in our ability to get there.

That's where the idea to run the internet's largest career fair for social impact careers came from and why I launched Careero. I want to encourage the world’s best and brightest to work on more important challenges.

I'm currently using Landen for the website and landing pages (it's my favorite website builder by far).

Users RSVP for the event through Eventbrite. From there, Zapier sends their info to a Google Sheet and also to an automated 5-email sequence in Mailchimp.

The virtual career fair will use a combination of Table2Site as a jobBoard, automated Slack invites (where we host AMA's), and Calendly+Zapier emails to allow attendees to virtual coffee chats with mentors.

I was able to complete all of this in one all-nighter.

"We're so lucky to be builders and makers right now. Never before has it been this easy to launch something this quickly into the world. The No-code movement is truly democratizing the web by allowing anyone to launch almost any idea that they could come up with. It's incredible!"

Anytime someone asks me about the No-Code movement, I get incredibly excited, my heart-rate raises, and sometimes I even start jumping up and down.

What's even more exciting is that I think the movement is just getting started. In 5-10 years, I expect that there will be a new class of ""web crafters"", just as there used to be cobblers, leather smiths, and tailors. It will be an awesome world in which knowledge of how the web works is no longer a barrier to becoming a digital maker.
