Claude Design Is Here: Anthropic’s New AI Tool for Prototypes, Slides, and Visual Work

Anthropic just launched Claude Design

Anthropic has released Claude Design, a new product from Anthropic Labs that helps teams create visual outputs by chatting with Claude. According to Anthropic, teams can use it for designs, interactive prototypes, slides, one-pagers, and marketing assets.

This launch went live on April 17, 2026, alongside Opus 4.7 and is currently in research preview.

What stands out

  • Built for iterative design: Claude Design combines chat + canvas so you can refine visual work through conversation, inline comments, and direct edits.
  • Design system support: Anthropic says teams can set up a design system so outputs align with brand typography, colors, and components.
  • Prototype-to-build workflow: You can package a design handoff and pass it to Claude Code for implementation.
  • Export options: Outputs can be exported to PDF, PPTX, Canva, and standalone HTML files.

Who gets access now

Claude Design is available in research preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions. For Enterprise, admins need to enable it in organization settings.

Why this matters for makers

For indie hackers and startup teams, the interesting part is speed: idea → visual prototype → implementation handoff. If Claude Design keeps improving reliability and collaboration controls, it could become a practical bridge between PM/design intent and real product delivery.

At minimum, it lowers the friction for quickly testing UX directions and pitch-ready visuals without waiting on a full design cycle.
